HISTORY

A Little History:
Our story begins in Pocatello, Idaho, circa 1972, when the lovely Debby Christensen agreed to a first, though fateful date with admirer, David Croshaw. Long story-short, he bade her follow him, and they went arm-in-arm to the Logan, Utah temple for establishment of an eternal family unit, Generation 1, on May 23 1973.

From their first blissful summer in Salt Lake City, educational pursuits took them to Provo/Orem, Utah, birthplace of Leslie and Rebecca, and to San Francisco/Oakland California, birthplace of Colin and Matt. Then, for establishment of livelihood, expansion of the tribe with Abby and Dana, and for raising/unifying of Generation 2, it was back to the roots in Pocatello for a rewarding sojourn.

In time, driven by a raging, but commonly shared sense of adventure and independence, one-by-one, Generation 2 escaped the homeland to distant regions of the country and the world, each ultimately developing their own tribal expansions by pairing with worthy mates and initiating Generation 3.

Now sensing fulfillment of their purpose in Pocatello, Generation 1 has also left those roots and transplanted to Cascade Idaho, from which base, they anticipate more abundant contact with The Posterity, Generations 2 and 3, in the future. That contact however, awaits fulfillment of a call to LDS missionary service in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, wherein they hope to help the state of the world by sharing the love of Jesus Christ.

So now, including Generation 0 (Grandma and Grandpa Christensen) home base includes Yuma, Arizona, Pocatello, Idaho, Cascade, Idaho, Vancouver, BC, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Spokane, Washington, Boise, Idaho, Los Angeles, California, back to Boise, Idaho, and on and on (Generation 3+) to infinity.

Our Mission Statement:
This is the blog of our eternal family unit. Initiated years ago, it served well as a journal, but even more so, as an archive of our personal interaction. It was a gathering place, a confabulation instrument, a unifying force for four generations of widely dispersed and progressively prolific posterity, and their valued associates. Though it served these purposes well for many years, it eventually took a back seat to new-kids-on-the-block, Facebook, and Instagram, and was sadly forgotten.

We now move to resurrect this blog with an added functional purpose of archiving the missionary experiences of Generation 1, of their movements and activities as they participate with The Gathering of Israel in the land northward. In so doing, we hope that via their own comments and posts, this blog will again serve to gather and unify the posterity and their friends.

As in the past, that the young and vibrant may know the old and tired, that enduring bonds may be fostered and maintained, that experience and encouragement may be openly shared, that posterity may embrace truth, and that hearts may be knit together, we must resist detachment despite our geographic divergence. We shall do so here.

150 qt Igloo cooler for $79.99

The other night at Costco we saw this huge white cooler on sale. And it made me think of houseboats. And that got the hamsters spinning on their treadmills in my little head. Wouldn’t it be awesome of we have a family trip to Lake Powell?

So, I propose a we go on a lampoon family vacation Croshaw style to the red canyons of Lake Powell next June 7th through the 11th 2010.

What do you all think? Any one up for it? Bring all Ideas. Maybe a couple years down the road? Maybe a different time of year? Lets brainstorm this one out.

I know this is much more on the west coast than the East Coast. So if we wanted to split the difference and meet in Omaha Nebraska for the College World Series, I guess that would work too. But I vote for the 21 hour drive up I-10 to some fun in the Sun. And I challange Alex and Leslie to drive the 40 hours from Miami, you can even stop in San Antonio on your way.

Where ever it may be, the important part is that we are together, and that we get to watch David do a swan dive from a cliff into crystal clear water.

I love the idea, but the time may need to be pushed back a year or two. How about August or September 2011?
And this time no friends from anyone. Croshaw only.

Wahoo!! Let's do it! 2011 might be more betterer for me too, because I'm guessing/hoping that next June I'll be about a month into whatever post-grad school job I get. I get the feeling they won't be ready to let me take a week off yet.

Is that you in picture 3 Becky? I was just thinking 2011 also. I agree, just family this time although, I would like to see Valerie invite a friend. It would be more fun for her to have someone her age. I want to see David to the alligator dive again too. I will pass on the college world series.

We went camping this last weekend and of course we had to get out our cooler. We "inherited" the cooler from the last trip the family took to Lake Powell. Mom didn't want to take it home so Colin and I did.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this might be fun. I don't mind waiting until 2011, but like a kid on christmas eve I want to go next week. Something to consider would be school schedules. To early in June and we might have kids still in school or to late in August we might have kids starting the new year.

I just saw this! I dont know what Lake Powell is, but it sounds fun!

Valerie would love having someone her own age, but would be fine without it too. She gets out around the 2nd week in June (this year it was June 11).

I had no idea those were family photos. I did not recognize anyone except for the seadoo with Abby and Gramma.

Who wants to take "bets" on the number of new babies between now and then?

I say at least three.

abbynormal said...

Actually, Crystal - the girl on the seadoo is Leslie. :) I'm the one in the photo above with the huge t-shirt. (For whatever reason, I used to really like huge tees.)

Ya Crystal, and in case you didn't know, Becky is in the Bikini on picture 3. hummm, new babies between now and 2010 or 2011. My guess would be 5 by 2011, 2 by next summer.

Two by next summer?!~ What a feat! Then again, I am betting twins for Leslie and Alex...

I am potentially aiming for next summer- around May, but we will see... another Dr apt on the 15th... We shall see...

Abby! You look so much like Leslie, is it AMAZING!

Bikini eh? I have never been so brave. Ever. But it is all I buy for Valerie. She looks cute in them.

Jason, are you trying to tell us something about a new baby in the next year?!

Jason and Dana said...

sure, but not about me.
Jason

Crystal said...

About your wife maybe?!

Jason and Dana said...

Nope. Sorry try again.

Crystal said...

Well, you DID say TRY AGAIN, so...

It is not me and Jason says it is not him... it is not Abby.

or Lori (as witnessed by her Bailey post)

or Becky, I am just betting here...

Leslie? Maybe??

Jason and Dana said...

Ha, Crystal. You think I actually have the inside info on this? Ya right. I'm just making stuff up. Sorry to lead anyone on here. But as soon as I hear something I will let you know (at which time the only person in the family who wont know will be Quin our dog).

So this voting is a pretty tight race here. who will win 2010 or 2011? Has anyone double voted? No cheating, we don't want this thing to end up like the Florida election vote.
