HISTORY

A Little History:
Our story begins in Pocatello, Idaho, circa 1972, when the lovely Debby Christensen agreed to a first, though fateful date with admirer, David Croshaw. Long story-short, he bade her follow him, and they went arm-in-arm to the Logan, Utah temple for establishment of an eternal family unit, Generation 1, on May 23 1973.

From their first blissful summer in Salt Lake City, educational pursuits took them to Provo/Orem, Utah, birthplace of Leslie and Rebecca, and to San Francisco/Oakland California, birthplace of Colin and Matt. Then, for establishment of livelihood, expansion of the tribe with Abby and Dana, and for raising/unifying of Generation 2, it was back to the roots in Pocatello for a rewarding sojourn.

In time, driven by a raging, but commonly shared sense of adventure and independence, one-by-one, Generation 2 escaped the homeland to distant regions of the country and the world, each ultimately developing their own tribal expansions by pairing with worthy mates and initiating Generation 3.

Now sensing fulfillment of their purpose in Pocatello, Generation 1 has also left those roots and transplanted to Cascade Idaho, from which base, they anticipate more abundant contact with The Posterity, Generations 2 and 3, in the future. That contact however, awaits fulfillment of a call to LDS missionary service in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, wherein they hope to help the state of the world by sharing the love of Jesus Christ.

So now, including Generation 0 (Grandma and Grandpa Christensen) home base includes Yuma, Arizona, Pocatello, Idaho, Cascade, Idaho, Vancouver, BC, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Spokane, Washington, Boise, Idaho, Los Angeles, California, back to Boise, Idaho, and on and on (Generation 3+) to infinity.

Our Mission Statement:
This is the blog of our eternal family unit. Initiated years ago, it served well as a journal, but even more so, as an archive of our personal interaction. It was a gathering place, a confabulation instrument, a unifying force for four generations of widely dispersed and progressively prolific posterity, and their valued associates. Though it served these purposes well for many years, it eventually took a back seat to new-kids-on-the-block, Facebook, and Instagram, and was sadly forgotten.

We now move to resurrect this blog with an added functional purpose of archiving the missionary experiences of Generation 1, of their movements and activities as they participate with The Gathering of Israel in the land northward. In so doing, we hope that via their own comments and posts, this blog will again serve to gather and unify the posterity and their friends.

As in the past, that the young and vibrant may know the old and tired, that enduring bonds may be fostered and maintained, that experience and encouragement may be openly shared, that posterity may embrace truth, and that hearts may be knit together, we must resist detachment despite our geographic divergence. We shall do so here.

INDUCTION SCHEDULED MARCH 7!

READ BEFORE ANSWERING POLL!!!!!! (to the left)
We can't decide which we like best, it's mostly between Lilia Elizabeth and Lilia Jo. We've liked Lilia Elizabeth since before we had Eva, but the more we think about it it seems too long, but Elizabeth is so elegant and goes so well with Lilia. Jo is the complete opposite! But she would be named after her aunt Becky and Jason's dad and his dad (both of their first names are Joe.) Now before you vote, say Lilia Jo out loud a few times. I didn't like it until I'd said it out loud 4 or 5 times. Kate isn't even really a contender. I love it and think it goes well with Lilia, but Jason doesn't like the name Kate. And we could always go with no middle name. Not that the winner will be the actual name, but I'd like to know what the family thinks. If you'd like to explain your vote, I'd love to hear it!
He's hams it up for the camera lately.

LOVE Eva's double chin in this one.

I probably wouldn't even post an update, because not much is happening with us. Actually, nothing is, but I have a few good pictures to put up and an idea for a poll. We still don't know where we're going. Jason's boss's boss said something about Southern California, but that doesn't mean anything. We thought Albuquerque for awhile (What are the chances, right?) but now we think that is out. It's all a mystery!

Jason had a busy couple months flying all over the country, but now traveling is done, thank goodness. He went to Utah twice, Albuquerque, Denver, Florida, Twin Falls, Rexburg. We thought St. George was on the list, but that didn't have to happen. He was training people on new collection software, you'd have to get the whole story from him. I think they were still using a DOS program before this upgrade, so it's not like this will be a usual occurence. Church ball started a couple weeks ago, watch out biggest loser competitors! :)

Colby is talking more and more every day, and I'm still trying to potty train him. My goal is to have him out of pull ups before Lilia comes, but I think that might take a miracle. He's got a good memory, he always remembers what I use to bribe him to make him stay in bed at naptime. As soon as he gets up he asks for his treat or the show I told him he could watch after his nap. He knows his baby is coming and is named Lilia, but I'm not sure he REALLY gets it. When I ask him who is in mommy's tummy he says "Baby Lilia."

Eva is jabbering almost as much as Colby. She's going on the potty some too, maybe she'll be potty trained before Colby. She's so sweet, most of the time. She's figured out if she cries hard enough Colby will get in trouble for whatever he did to her. We're trying to stop babying her so much. She's just too hard to resist most of the time.

So now to me, I'm hoping to be induced March 7th, I'll keep you updated. That means it's only 31 days away. CRAZY! I'm ready for her to be here, but Jason says he's not ready for sleepless nights. My sleepless nights have already started, so it can't be much worse when she's here. I was up for over 2 hours last night. I played a little spider solitare, but mostly laid in bed staring at the ceiling. It hasn't been too bad yet, but at least once a week.

We've been in the nursery for a few months, but that will have to end when the baby comes. It's been fun being in there with Colby and Eva. Anyway...long post for not much to say, huh? And I really tried to get a picture of my stomach so you could get the idea, but it's not so easy! Especially with a digital SLR. Love you all! (And I changed the template, thought it would be fun.)

Your belly pictures are too cute! I have trouble even saying Lilia (I have the same problem with my niece Lily, too many L's in too short a time) but I love Elizabeth as a middle name. It is, in fact, Valerie's middle name. I wish I would have spelled it Elisabeth now, but I wanted her to have a "z" in her name.

Oh, and I am really, really really envious of your digital SLR, I have been wanting one for about 5 years now :-(

I wanted to use Elisabeth at first! But then I wanted to keep family names and found out my ancestor somewhere back there..(or maybe it was Jason's?) was Elizabeth. I didn't know it was Valerie!

Valerie's middle name...my mind cut off half way through the thought.

I think you should give some consideration to Jilia Lo or Alilia Lizabeth or Arvilla.
By the way, what ward do you guys go to? If you go to the one that you live in you probably go to church with some on our friends from out ward there. And Bart Reed is in the Stake presidency there.

Dana, you are really looking good for being due so soon! What is your secret. I have stopped Diet pepsi and all soda pretty much. I just can't stand the taste right now which is a good thing, I know. I crave donuts and Quiznos' Sammies. But again, what are you eating these days? I am sure I am going to swell like a balloon this time. I am so excited that we will be there after Lilia is born!! Mia is going to want to hold her so much!

I think the angle of the camera made me look better than I really do, but I've only gained 7 or 8 pounds so far! Best I've ever done, that's for sure. I don't know what I've done, but it's worked. I'm hoping after I have the baby I'll be better off than before I got pregnant. Right now I'm eating lots of sugar, but those cravings just started a couple weeks ago. I've drank diet coke the whole time...so that's not my trick. You're really lucky it tastes gross to you! And I like the sound of Jilia Lo. And how could I have forgotten Arvilla!?

Seriously, what ward do you guys go to?

Jason and Dana said...

Oh yeah, sorry, we're still going to 2nd ward, and we can't WAIT for you guys to be here either! I'm so glad Colin will get to be here for the blessing, that'll be 3 for 3!
