HISTORY

A Little History:
Our story begins in Pocatello, Idaho, circa 1972, when the lovely Debby Christensen agreed to a first, though fateful date with admirer, David Croshaw. Long story-short, he bade her follow him, and they went arm-in-arm to the Logan, Utah temple for establishment of an eternal family unit, Generation 1, on May 23 1973.

From their first blissful summer in Salt Lake City, educational pursuits took them to Provo/Orem, Utah, birthplace of Leslie and Rebecca, and to San Francisco/Oakland California, birthplace of Colin and Matt. Then, for establishment of livelihood, expansion of the tribe with Abby and Dana, and for raising/unifying of Generation 2, it was back to the roots in Pocatello for a rewarding sojourn.

In time, driven by a raging, but commonly shared sense of adventure and independence, one-by-one, Generation 2 escaped the homeland to distant regions of the country and the world, each ultimately developing their own tribal expansions by pairing with worthy mates and initiating Generation 3.

Now sensing fulfillment of their purpose in Pocatello, Generation 1 has also left those roots and transplanted to Cascade Idaho, from which base, they anticipate more abundant contact with The Posterity, Generations 2 and 3, in the future. That contact however, awaits fulfillment of a call to LDS missionary service in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, wherein they hope to help the state of the world by sharing the love of Jesus Christ.

So now, including Generation 0 (Grandma and Grandpa Christensen) home base includes Yuma, Arizona, Pocatello, Idaho, Cascade, Idaho, Vancouver, BC, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Spokane, Washington, Boise, Idaho, Los Angeles, California, back to Boise, Idaho, and on and on (Generation 3+) to infinity.

Our Mission Statement:
This is the blog of our eternal family unit. Initiated years ago, it served well as a journal, but even more so, as an archive of our personal interaction. It was a gathering place, a confabulation instrument, a unifying force for four generations of widely dispersed and progressively prolific posterity, and their valued associates. Though it served these purposes well for many years, it eventually took a back seat to new-kids-on-the-block, Facebook, and Instagram, and was sadly forgotten.

We now move to resurrect this blog with an added functional purpose of archiving the missionary experiences of Generation 1, of their movements and activities as they participate with The Gathering of Israel in the land northward. In so doing, we hope that via their own comments and posts, this blog will again serve to gather and unify the posterity and their friends.

As in the past, that the young and vibrant may know the old and tired, that enduring bonds may be fostered and maintained, that experience and encouragement may be openly shared, that posterity may embrace truth, and that hearts may be knit together, we must resist detachment despite our geographic divergence. We shall do so here.

Thanksgiving plans

Family, I have been thinking about our get together in a few weeks and wanted to know ahead of time who would be staying with us in our house, when you get here and will be leaving-even if you are not staying with us-and your favorite Thankgiving food, just so we don't miss any. Of course we will have turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green salad, a relish tray, cranberries-out of a can unless someone else wants to take on that job. Crystal is making some pies, remind me of what ones you are making and if you want me to pick up the stuff for you to have on hand. I will make a sweet potato pie which is Colin's favorite. I think that covers the basics. I want to get a list of groceries going.

Another thing, we have no carpet except 2 area rugs so you may want to bring slippers or something that you want to wear on your feet if you are so inclined. If you are driving bring pillows and if you have an airmattress bring that too. We are very excited!!

Let me know if you need to be picked up from the airport too. Love you all! Lori

By the way, if everyone decides to stay here we have enough room. We have 2 1/2 bathrooms with 2 showers. Also bring some blankets if you are driving.

Valerie has school Wednesday- but we are planning to leave Wednesday night/evening (Abby, Matt and I)and we are leaving Saturday.

I do not have an air mattress, but we have plenty of blankets/pillows.

I am making Pecan, Pumpkin and Apple pies. I may need one more pie pan, but I bought the stuff (except the apples) already. I really love cooking.

I can make anything you want if you need more help.

Hi guys! We are so excited to come. Grace keeps talking about it and Ray told her a few weeks ago that we are going to Mia's house "next month". She thought he said "extra month" and every day she asks if today is an "extra month". Anyway, we are most likely leaving on Thursday morning early, we may possibly leave on Wednesday night. We are hoping to get there late afternoon/early evening on Thursday. We are leaving either Sunday night or early Monday morning. We have an air mattress and blankets (we are staying at your house). We can't wait to see everyone!!

Sounds great!! There will be enough air mattresses with the ones we have, 2 queen and one single, and the one Becky brings for all the adults and a kid. I think we will have Abby sleep in Mia's bed with Mia, Grace and Valerie in Mia's room if that is okay and works out. All will have separate beds but I bet Mia will want to sleep with Abby. =-) I have feather bed that we don't use that maybe the little girls can sleep on together. Becky and Ray can have Jack's room with Maggie and Elliott, we have a toddler bed he can sleep in and the crib for Maggie. Jack can sleep in my room with us and Matt and Crystal can have the play room. Becky if you can bring a fan for white noise you probably want to. It echoes in here terribly and I only have 1 fan. I haven't told Mia yet that Grace is coming because she will ask me about 10 times a day. That is great about Grace. They will have so much fun!! Lori

Hello again...

So Valerie is going to her dad's family's for Thanksgiving. She decided that in early October (which, believe me, I am already axiety-attacking over)... long story, if you want details, I will explain.

Also- when is it that we are celebrating Thanksgiving? Apparently not on Thanksgiving proper, but what day exactly? I have friends in Cleveland and I would love a chance to see them if possible.
