HISTORY

A Little History:
Our story begins in Pocatello, Idaho, circa 1972, when the lovely Debby Christensen agreed to a first, though fateful date with admirer, David Croshaw. Long story-short, he bade her follow him, and they went arm-in-arm to the Logan, Utah temple for establishment of an eternal family unit, Generation 1, on May 23 1973.

From their first blissful summer in Salt Lake City, educational pursuits took them to Provo/Orem, Utah, birthplace of Leslie and Rebecca, and to San Francisco/Oakland California, birthplace of Colin and Matt. Then, for establishment of livelihood, expansion of the tribe with Abby and Dana, and for raising/unifying of Generation 2, it was back to the roots in Pocatello for a rewarding sojourn.

In time, driven by a raging, but commonly shared sense of adventure and independence, one-by-one, Generation 2 escaped the homeland to distant regions of the country and the world, each ultimately developing their own tribal expansions by pairing with worthy mates and initiating Generation 3.

Now sensing fulfillment of their purpose in Pocatello, Generation 1 has also left those roots and transplanted to Cascade Idaho, from which base, they anticipate more abundant contact with The Posterity, Generations 2 and 3, in the future. That contact however, awaits fulfillment of a call to LDS missionary service in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, wherein they hope to help the state of the world by sharing the love of Jesus Christ.

So now, including Generation 0 (Grandma and Grandpa Christensen) home base includes Yuma, Arizona, Pocatello, Idaho, Cascade, Idaho, Vancouver, BC, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Spokane, Washington, Boise, Idaho, Los Angeles, California, back to Boise, Idaho, and on and on (Generation 3+) to infinity.

Our Mission Statement:
This is the blog of our eternal family unit. Initiated years ago, it served well as a journal, but even more so, as an archive of our personal interaction. It was a gathering place, a confabulation instrument, a unifying force for four generations of widely dispersed and progressively prolific posterity, and their valued associates. Though it served these purposes well for many years, it eventually took a back seat to new-kids-on-the-block, Facebook, and Instagram, and was sadly forgotten.

We now move to resurrect this blog with an added functional purpose of archiving the missionary experiences of Generation 1, of their movements and activities as they participate with The Gathering of Israel in the land northward. In so doing, we hope that via their own comments and posts, this blog will again serve to gather and unify the posterity and their friends.

As in the past, that the young and vibrant may know the old and tired, that enduring bonds may be fostered and maintained, that experience and encouragement may be openly shared, that posterity may embrace truth, and that hearts may be knit together, we must resist detachment despite our geographic divergence. We shall do so here.

New Tenants at 299 S. 20th

Just want everyone to know that the sister missionaries will be moving in next week. We are very excited. They are coming over tomorrow to help me paint the room. We will be moving the crib upstairs. Dad will fix the light fixture and repair the chest of drawers drawer and then when it is painted they can start moving in. I am guessing the Senior Missionaries will bring the beds and desk over for them as well. I am going to have to get rid of the computer desk you left, Dana. Maybe someone in our student ward would like it. I dont' know if they have to leave while you guys are home, but we will see. I am excited for all of you to meet them. Abby flies home on Friday!!! Looking forward to her last post, and seeing her photos.

Wow, that's great!!! They'll probably have to leave or no one will be able to stay in the basement. You guys will be great hosts for them! I'm so excited for you mom-and that the room will finally be painted!!! I'm thinking the room with wallpaper peeling off, or is it the room we stayed in?

I love missionaries. The last ones that visited us told us they were staying in the home of a member and the man of the house would open the basement door and yell, "Elders! Take out the trash!" I am not sure why, but that totally cracks me up. I did not realize you had sisters moving in with you. Very neat.

Speaking of cribs... I had not thought of it before, but I guess we will need to bring one, the only problem is that I got our pack and play at a yard sale and it does not have a cover so it does not travel well... We will have to see about that.

Anyway, that is really neat. Lucky girls!

Having missionaries in the home is quite the experience. We have had Elders here for over a year and enjoy them immensely--for the most part. George has no trouble at all in telling them, "Elders, time to clean this up!" or "Your stuff is spreading out of your territory!" Good luck!!

Totally unrelated comment - question: Since we have only 13 adults in the fam, and since Mom and I have not voted, how is it we now have 14 votes showing on the Lake Powell poll? Looks like ACORN has been at work here.

Also, now that the numbers post has 60 comments, are we all going to move on? Kind of feels like I'm losing an old friend, but it was fun while it lasted.

I was wondering about that....I think some people might have voted from their phones......I guess you know who you are CHEATERS! I saw I could vote on my phone but didn't. I wondered if other people would notice and double vote.

Crystal said she didn't vote, but Valerie did. So that still makes 11 votes, 12 if DK voted.

How exciting! Now you guys don't have to be empty-nesters anymore! :) I'm also very excited for more parts of the house to get redone. And I'm extra-excited to see the awesome redone upstairs bathroom. And also to see everyone else...wow, too much excitement all at once. I'm overwhelmed.

David did vote. I figured it was only fair. All of you get to technically vote twice, why not me?

I'm good at following instructions, but I'm not disclosing my vote. :-)
