HISTORY

A Little History:
Our story begins in Pocatello, Idaho, circa 1972, when the lovely Debby Christensen agreed to a first, though fateful date with admirer, David Croshaw. Long story-short, he bade her follow him, and they went arm-in-arm to the Logan, Utah temple for establishment of an eternal family unit, Generation 1, on May 23 1973.

From their first blissful summer in Salt Lake City, educational pursuits took them to Provo/Orem, Utah, birthplace of Leslie and Rebecca, and to San Francisco/Oakland California, birthplace of Colin and Matt. Then, for establishment of livelihood, expansion of the tribe with Abby and Dana, and for raising/unifying of Generation 2, it was back to the roots in Pocatello for a rewarding sojourn.

In time, driven by a raging, but commonly shared sense of adventure and independence, one-by-one, Generation 2 escaped the homeland to distant regions of the country and the world, each ultimately developing their own tribal expansions by pairing with worthy mates and initiating Generation 3.

Now sensing fulfillment of their purpose in Pocatello, Generation 1 has also left those roots and transplanted to Cascade Idaho, from which base, they anticipate more abundant contact with The Posterity, Generations 2 and 3, in the future. That contact however, awaits fulfillment of a call to LDS missionary service in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, wherein they hope to help the state of the world by sharing the love of Jesus Christ.

So now, including Generation 0 (Grandma and Grandpa Christensen) home base includes Yuma, Arizona, Pocatello, Idaho, Cascade, Idaho, Vancouver, BC, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Spokane, Washington, Boise, Idaho, Los Angeles, California, back to Boise, Idaho, and on and on (Generation 3+) to infinity.

Our Mission Statement:
This is the blog of our eternal family unit. Initiated years ago, it served well as a journal, but even more so, as an archive of our personal interaction. It was a gathering place, a confabulation instrument, a unifying force for four generations of widely dispersed and progressively prolific posterity, and their valued associates. Though it served these purposes well for many years, it eventually took a back seat to new-kids-on-the-block, Facebook, and Instagram, and was sadly forgotten.

We now move to resurrect this blog with an added functional purpose of archiving the missionary experiences of Generation 1, of their movements and activities as they participate with The Gathering of Israel in the land northward. In so doing, we hope that via their own comments and posts, this blog will again serve to gather and unify the posterity and their friends.

As in the past, that the young and vibrant may know the old and tired, that enduring bonds may be fostered and maintained, that experience and encouragement may be openly shared, that posterity may embrace truth, and that hearts may be knit together, we must resist detachment despite our geographic divergence. We shall do so here.

Happy Birthday Dana!!

Happy Birthday Dana. We hope your day is great, great, great. Since Mom is at the cabin she didn't have access to pictures and these are all that I have. I was thinking about the picture of you and Jason in Mexico. You are such a cute pregnant woman! Your babies are so beautiful too!!! Have a super duper birthday!

Dana, I've been thinking about you all day. I feel like your real birthday celebration will come in two days, but I hope you take at least a little break from life and studies to enjoy your day! You're such a thoughtful person, you deserve the break!! I wish I could come visit you after finals. But we'll have to settle for a celebratory phone call! I'll be seeing you soon. :o) Love you!

Aww, I wish I knew when peoples' birthdays were coming up. I know someone told me Matt should have a "perpetual calendar," but if you know Matt, you know "somewhere" is where that calendar resides...

Anyway, If I could get a list of dates, I would be grateful.

Dana~

You are such a good, kind, caring soul. I love how enthusiastic about life and small kindnesses you are. I think you are incredibly in-tune with the Spirit which makes your comments, kindness and thoughts often undeniably timely and inspired. That is such a priceless trait.

I love that your children know how lucky they are already to be blessed with the Gospel, and two loving parents in their lives.

I think it is remarkable how much younger than me you are and how together you have things. It really is amazing.

I know that you will be successful in your life, having already figured out so many of the most-valuable things in it.

I hope you feel super-extra-fantastically loved and appreciated today.

happy birthday, sweet dana. I thought of you today when grandpa and i were in the hottub. You and I spent many happy times together in that same hottub. You and abby make that a wonderful place for remembering. What a wonderful mother you are and how lucky Jason is to have you.

much love,
gram

You're all so nice. I love you guys. Lori, you're even nicer for saying I look cute pregnant....uh huh, right. :) I had a good birthday full of reading and studying for and taking my 2nd to last final, which I got an 85% on. Then Jason and I went to Texas Roadhouse (which should just be called Roadhouse since we're in Texas) while my friend watched our kids for us. It was a good day, besides the overwhelming disasterous condition my house is in. Thanks for the b-day wishes!!

Come on Dana, you know Texans like to use the word texas in everything they can. I'm suprised the Texas Roadhouse doesn't have Texas on every menu item. Actually it might, someone, check that for me. Anyway, happy Birthday Dana, and Thanks Lori for putting this up, although I had the best intentions of putting it up, it never happened. Just like a lot of things i'm "getting around to doing". Sorry Dana, you do deserve the best because you are the best. I'm lucky to have you.

There's already a restaraunt called Roadhouse, so that's probably why they added the Texas. Happy Birthday again, this time actually on your birthday, not the day before.
Hope your b-day has been good. You only have 42 minutes left to celebrate.
Hope you don't get swine flu.

Happy B-day Dana Kay! I'm glad I got to spend your pre-birthday weekend with you. And I'm so glad I've gotten to spend so much time with you since I moved to Mexico. The last time we got to spend this kind of time together you were 8 years old...and then I left for Utah State never to live at home again. In fact, until this last year, I always kind of thought of you as being that 8 year-old. Silly...I know, but that has changed.

You are such a loving person. One of my most fond memories of your tender heart was in the SLC airport as I was leaving on my mission. You were so sad to see me go. (Thus the famous line..."I feel faint.") And you're such a good mom. You really have your hands full with your energetic kids, which I've also come to appreciate. ;-) But I love watching you with them. They're going to grow up to be such good, kind adults thanks to you and Jason.

Anyway, sorry you had to study and take a final on your birthday, but next year will be better. ;-) Happy 25th Dana! I love you!!

Ah, Dana, my baby. You are the one that either kept me young, or made me feel old, depending on which period of your life it was. Whatever, you were definitely a delightful last installment in our child-bearing season, but not the end of our parenting experience. That goes on and on, and it has become grand (as in grandparent.) Thanks to the ongoing goodness of all of your lives (spouses included,) and the added sweetness of all your little ones, Mom and I are truely in the best days of our lives. It's hard to imagine an eternal reward that could be any better, unless it's just a greater abundance of the same thing.

Thank you for being so bright, for learning so well, for recognizing the Spirit, and staying with it.
I love you,
Dad

Happy happy birthday, Dana!! Sorry this took me so long (but I did call her on her birthday everyone!!). I hope your day was wonderful!! I totally agree with what everyone else said and just want to add that you are such a good example to me. I remember when you got engaged and you were scared to tell me because you thought I would be mad at you for getting married so young. But I have always felt like you are so mature and close to the spirit, so how could I have ever been mad at you for making a decision you felt was best?! I just feel bad that I made you feel like you couldn't talk to me about that! (shows you who the mature one was, right!!) Anyway, I love you and hope your birthday was happy!!
