HISTORY

A Little History:
Our story begins in Pocatello, Idaho, circa 1972, when the lovely Debby Christensen agreed to a first, though fateful date with admirer, David Croshaw. Long story-short, he bade her follow him, and they went arm-in-arm to the Logan, Utah temple for establishment of an eternal family unit, Generation 1, on May 23 1973.

From their first blissful summer in Salt Lake City, educational pursuits took them to Provo/Orem, Utah, birthplace of Leslie and Rebecca, and to San Francisco/Oakland California, birthplace of Colin and Matt. Then, for establishment of livelihood, expansion of the tribe with Abby and Dana, and for raising/unifying of Generation 2, it was back to the roots in Pocatello for a rewarding sojourn.

In time, driven by a raging, but commonly shared sense of adventure and independence, one-by-one, Generation 2 escaped the homeland to distant regions of the country and the world, each ultimately developing their own tribal expansions by pairing with worthy mates and initiating Generation 3.

Now sensing fulfillment of their purpose in Pocatello, Generation 1 has also left those roots and transplanted to Cascade Idaho, from which base, they anticipate more abundant contact with The Posterity, Generations 2 and 3, in the future. That contact however, awaits fulfillment of a call to LDS missionary service in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, wherein they hope to help the state of the world by sharing the love of Jesus Christ.

So now, including Generation 0 (Grandma and Grandpa Christensen) home base includes Yuma, Arizona, Pocatello, Idaho, Cascade, Idaho, Vancouver, BC, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Spokane, Washington, Boise, Idaho, Los Angeles, California, back to Boise, Idaho, and on and on (Generation 3+) to infinity.

Our Mission Statement:
This is the blog of our eternal family unit. Initiated years ago, it served well as a journal, but even more so, as an archive of our personal interaction. It was a gathering place, a confabulation instrument, a unifying force for four generations of widely dispersed and progressively prolific posterity, and their valued associates. Though it served these purposes well for many years, it eventually took a back seat to new-kids-on-the-block, Facebook, and Instagram, and was sadly forgotten.

We now move to resurrect this blog with an added functional purpose of archiving the missionary experiences of Generation 1, of their movements and activities as they participate with The Gathering of Israel in the land northward. In so doing, we hope that via their own comments and posts, this blog will again serve to gather and unify the posterity and their friends.

As in the past, that the young and vibrant may know the old and tired, that enduring bonds may be fostered and maintained, that experience and encouragement may be openly shared, that posterity may embrace truth, and that hearts may be knit together, we must resist detachment despite our geographic divergence. We shall do so here.

Man work deserves MAN MEAL

So this morning, Matt and I went grocery shopping, and upon our return I mumbled out loud how awful the front yard looked. It is covered by brown/white/grey grass (which we cant do anything about) and the beds were full of hay-like grass and weeds and the mulch looked terrible.

So, while I set out to be a good daughter and fix my mom's webpage (which took forever and really tried my patience), then go for a run/jog/walk (first time in oh... 9 months), Matt was still working hard, so I decided to make him a treat that I have heard, he will think is heaven on earth because now our front yard looks much better, even the neighbor came over to comment. I wish she would have taken the bird with her, man is Sydney annoying.

Valerie and her friend pitched in until Valerie broke her Crocs (only her FAVORITE SHOES :-/) then replaced then with flip flops and proceded to attempt and sever her big toe with a shovel (to which I gave my standard, must-not-freak-her-out-by-panicking response "Why'dja do that?!"

So, Matt is currently eating his treat and keeps saying "mmmmm." My sources were telling the truth.

As for me, I stay away from cow for the most part, but I think Valerie will like it, she can try it when she is done playing with her friend next door.

Man’s Favorite Sandwich
2 to 3 pounds cube steak (tenderized round steak that’s been extra-tenderized
1 large onion OR 2 small/medium onions
4 French/Deli rolls
Butter, man
Lawry’s Seasoned Salt
Worcestershire Sauce
Tabasco

-Slice onions and cook in 1/4 stick butter until soft and light brown. Remove and set aside.
-Slice cube steak against the grain. Season with Lawry’s.
-Heat 2 TBSP butter over high heat (in same skillet) until melted and beginning to brown.
-Add meat in single layer. Cook one side until brown, then flip and cook until brown, about a minute on both sides.
-Add 1/2 cup (at least) Worcestershire sauce, 5 to 6 shakes Tabasco, and 2 TBSP butter. Add cooked onions. Stir to combine.
-Butter halved French rolls and brown on skillet.
-To assemble, lay bottom half of French roll on plate. Place meat mixture, followed by a spoonfull of juice from the pan. Top with other half of roll, cut in half, and devour!

And go get on the Stairmaster. Now.

He has lost a ton of weight since December (even his doctor congratulated him) and I dont feel like barfing- I think that run/jog/walk helped and he worked really hard. So this recipe is for the ladies to make when their better halves are in ultimate deserving mode. It is really simple and it smells great. Oh yeah, I added mushrooms to the sauteing onions and muenster cheese (wish we would have had provolone...)

That sure looks good to me! I'm glad it ended up on the blog, in case I'm feeling hungry for some good man food. I think Matt should eat one of those every day to give the rest of us guys a chance at catching up on the contest. It snowed about 6" today in Pocatello. That was enough to get me out of yard work.

Wow! That is a lot of snow- we are turning mulch and raking and listening to birds and up in the arctic tundra, it is still snowing. How strange! I can not remember the last time I saw 6 inches of snow though, so I am a wee bit jeolous.

Oh, you're so good to him. And I'm so glad you're feeling better! Hooray for exercise! How are you doing otherwise?

Well, the nausea was gone for a whole hour (which, believe me was well-needed). I am getting used to it. It is otherwise non-stop. It just gets more and more interesting, with tunnel vision and dizziness added in for variety the last 4 days or so, but hopefully at the end will be a healthy, strong baby.

I shoveled about 3 tons of snow from the driveway last week - Does that qualify me for a man-wich? Debby, are you listening?
