HISTORY

A Little History:
Our story begins in Pocatello, Idaho, circa 1972, when the lovely Debby Christensen agreed to a first, though fateful date with admirer, David Croshaw. Long story-short, he bade her follow him, and they went arm-in-arm to the Logan, Utah temple for establishment of an eternal family unit, Generation 1, on May 23 1973.

From their first blissful summer in Salt Lake City, educational pursuits took them to Provo/Orem, Utah, birthplace of Leslie and Rebecca, and to San Francisco/Oakland California, birthplace of Colin and Matt. Then, for establishment of livelihood, expansion of the tribe with Abby and Dana, and for raising/unifying of Generation 2, it was back to the roots in Pocatello for a rewarding sojourn.

In time, driven by a raging, but commonly shared sense of adventure and independence, one-by-one, Generation 2 escaped the homeland to distant regions of the country and the world, each ultimately developing their own tribal expansions by pairing with worthy mates and initiating Generation 3.

Now sensing fulfillment of their purpose in Pocatello, Generation 1 has also left those roots and transplanted to Cascade Idaho, from which base, they anticipate more abundant contact with The Posterity, Generations 2 and 3, in the future. That contact however, awaits fulfillment of a call to LDS missionary service in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, wherein they hope to help the state of the world by sharing the love of Jesus Christ.

So now, including Generation 0 (Grandma and Grandpa Christensen) home base includes Yuma, Arizona, Pocatello, Idaho, Cascade, Idaho, Vancouver, BC, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Spokane, Washington, Boise, Idaho, Los Angeles, California, back to Boise, Idaho, and on and on (Generation 3+) to infinity.

Our Mission Statement:
This is the blog of our eternal family unit. Initiated years ago, it served well as a journal, but even more so, as an archive of our personal interaction. It was a gathering place, a confabulation instrument, a unifying force for four generations of widely dispersed and progressively prolific posterity, and their valued associates. Though it served these purposes well for many years, it eventually took a back seat to new-kids-on-the-block, Facebook, and Instagram, and was sadly forgotten.

We now move to resurrect this blog with an added functional purpose of archiving the missionary experiences of Generation 1, of their movements and activities as they participate with The Gathering of Israel in the land northward. In so doing, we hope that via their own comments and posts, this blog will again serve to gather and unify the posterity and their friends.

As in the past, that the young and vibrant may know the old and tired, that enduring bonds may be fostered and maintained, that experience and encouragement may be openly shared, that posterity may embrace truth, and that hearts may be knit together, we must resist detachment despite our geographic divergence. We shall do so here.

Did anyone else catch the mormon dude's dad playing trumpet wearing his garment top?

I noticed- actually Valerie did- "eeeewwww G's!!!" A few weeks ago, Brooke's G's were showing too, but not so blatently.

I agreed with Simon totally but I did not particularly like the David from Missouri song. The only one I liked was Brooke's.

My poor fav forgot his words- too much walking down those stairs, singing and remembering the words :-( I still love him though.

Wow, youtube is fast. They've already got all the clips from last night. I only watched the Mo's though, and in my unbiased opinion...

Brooke was amazing. She found her niche and stayed there, even though Simon complained last time about her being too happy, sunny, and "yellow." She's very consistently good. David was not amazing. He let Simon get to him when he said to stop singing songs that were really his style. (I think he called them "depressing"?) He's really good at what he's done before this week and everyone loves him there. He should stick to it.

...and it's pretty much awesome that Brooke was playing piano barefoot. I've done that in performances more times than I can count.

There were few, I thought, that really nailed their performances last night even though they have in the past. I agreed with Simon on most and oh my, I couldn't believe the country performance. I am not so good with all their names but I loved Brooke. Colin didn't really notice the G's either until I pointed it out. Of coure, only us "Mo"s recognized it.

I had to cut it pretty short last night, I was really sick...

I loved Brooke, but she really is very limited in the kinds of things she sings- which is fine, but it makes her incomparable to Carly. Carly can sing such a wide variety and it is always incredible! I am a total Carly fan and still love David A, though last night, he really did mess up. I was sorta hoping he would do "Yesterday" but he did take Simon's advice to not be "depressing" (in my words, senitmental, Simon needs to get over it...) I think he did a good thing by listening to Simon, but now he can go back to what is is best at- emotional songs that showcase his amazing talent.

I was also shocked Chikezie did so well! It was the first time I could actually listen to the whole song.

I think Raymeil may be voted off and... the country girl, she was truly awful last night. (Dolly Pardon on helium? Owch!)

PS Does anyone call in your vote? I stopped when I was all about Diana DeGarmo who lost to Fantasia back in 04...

Bye, Bye, Kristi Lee Cook. She was so horrible, what an awful song!! I loved Brooke and Carly. I also liked the rocker dude, can't remember his name, but I saw that he was living in Tulsa before he went on American Idol, that's cool. I was so sad for David Hernandez, he did so bad. I agree with Abby, he should stick with what he likes and what he is good at and not try to please Simon so much. Although I usually always agree with what Simon says, I think sometimes he feels like he has to say something bad about a person he compliments a lot. I think either Krisit, that Phillipino girl, or David Archuleta will go home.

I might have gotten the Daivd's mixed up, I love young David, but he did bad last night, and I think old David might go home...

I agree Crystal, Chezike (sp?) did an amazing job last night!! I don't vote until the very end and I only ever really voted for Chris Daughtry and Elliot Yamin (I loved him!!)

I know I'm going back a week, but what did everyone think of Blake's performance last week. I thought it was okay. Ray absolutely loved it, said it reminded him of an 80's alternative rock song...

Chris Daughtry is AWESOME! He is from Charlottesville area and Elliot (also awesome, especially with his fixed up teeth) is from Richmond. Idol has really changed the lives of those 2 young men.

My 3 favorites were Carly, Brooke, and Michael. I know the judges didn't like Michael's song very much (Australian guy) but I loved it. Mom is over here today because Jason had to work one day this week, and we were just talking about it and agreed it was one of those 3 people going home too Becky! David Hernandez, Kristy (HORRENDOUS was the perfect word-Simon is good at summing things up sometimes), or Ramielle. Kristy was by FAR the worst.
I thought it was so great when Randy said the thing about "I can picture you as an 8th grader playing this song on the piano and imagining the day when you're famous and performing it for the world. This must be like a dream come true for you." It was really....touching, ha.
Poor David Archuleta. He blew it, but there's no way he's going home and he'll be able to redeem himself.

loved chickeze, jason cook (eleanor rigby), brooke--thing she knows who she is and what works for her--so far. david h. ick, david a--forgetting lyrics is a big no no, 8 days a week gone country? what was she thinking? i think she will be off or ramiele (have never been able to spell or pronounce that one), like the australian guy a lot, but not so much this week, paula even ventured a teeny bit into her own. have you ever heard her disagree with randy? dred locks guy was a bit boring. i really wish someone would have done twist and shout. love that song. loved syesha's song, but her performance was kind of bland. enough of my criticism. onto tonight's results!!!

crystal, how do you get a picture in with your comments? debby

I forgot about Amanda. I didn't like her performance. I know the judges really liked it, but I think it might just be her voice I don't like.

^^^ from Dana, whoops.

I think the voting was "spot on" too. David H was horrible. I liked that song back in the day (Tiffany!) but I had to fast forward through it tonight because I did not want to sit through it again.
Man... the next 11 weeks?! That is so much time to keep my interest up. I think it is awesome that despite really messing up, David A. was not even in the bottom three.

Crystal said...

BTW- did you know both Carly and Brooke have recording deals that sort of fell through? That is kind of... not as amateur as the contest is hyped up to be.

So much for stopping after 15 comments...

I'd just like to point out that the ONLY blog entry ever to gain more popularity than a political debate is, yep, American Idol. We are a perfect representation of American priorities.
