HISTORY

A Little History:
Our story begins in Pocatello, Idaho, circa 1972, when the lovely Debby Christensen agreed to a first, though fateful date with admirer, David Croshaw. Long story-short, he bade her follow him, and they went arm-in-arm to the Logan, Utah temple for establishment of an eternal family unit, Generation 1, on May 23 1973.

From their first blissful summer in Salt Lake City, educational pursuits took them to Provo/Orem, Utah, birthplace of Leslie and Rebecca, and to San Francisco/Oakland California, birthplace of Colin and Matt. Then, for establishment of livelihood, expansion of the tribe with Abby and Dana, and for raising/unifying of Generation 2, it was back to the roots in Pocatello for a rewarding sojourn.

In time, driven by a raging, but commonly shared sense of adventure and independence, one-by-one, Generation 2 escaped the homeland to distant regions of the country and the world, each ultimately developing their own tribal expansions by pairing with worthy mates and initiating Generation 3.

Now sensing fulfillment of their purpose in Pocatello, Generation 1 has also left those roots and transplanted to Cascade Idaho, from which base, they anticipate more abundant contact with The Posterity, Generations 2 and 3, in the future. That contact however, awaits fulfillment of a call to LDS missionary service in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, wherein they hope to help the state of the world by sharing the love of Jesus Christ.

So now, including Generation 0 (Grandma and Grandpa Christensen) home base includes Yuma, Arizona, Pocatello, Idaho, Cascade, Idaho, Vancouver, BC, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Spokane, Washington, Boise, Idaho, Los Angeles, California, back to Boise, Idaho, and on and on (Generation 3+) to infinity.

Our Mission Statement:
This is the blog of our eternal family unit. Initiated years ago, it served well as a journal, but even more so, as an archive of our personal interaction. It was a gathering place, a confabulation instrument, a unifying force for four generations of widely dispersed and progressively prolific posterity, and their valued associates. Though it served these purposes well for many years, it eventually took a back seat to new-kids-on-the-block, Facebook, and Instagram, and was sadly forgotten.

We now move to resurrect this blog with an added functional purpose of archiving the missionary experiences of Generation 1, of their movements and activities as they participate with The Gathering of Israel in the land northward. In so doing, we hope that via their own comments and posts, this blog will again serve to gather and unify the posterity and their friends.

As in the past, that the young and vibrant may know the old and tired, that enduring bonds may be fostered and maintained, that experience and encouragement may be openly shared, that posterity may embrace truth, and that hearts may be knit together, we must resist detachment despite our geographic divergence. We shall do so here.

Lake Powell?

Is this still happening?

Valerie was asking about it yesterday, and I have been so crazy with work, I had not even thought about it. I am teaching a summer class (more $$) and am advising new freshman (great satisfaction... and more $$$)- but I am DONE from July 15- August 25. Also, I am just gonna put it out there, Asher is a really active boy, so if this happens, prepare yourself! He is lotsa fun that way ;-)

I am up for holding all babies, maybe even two at a time.

NOt sure about us with Colin's new job and driving across country. I am not sure that we will be able to afford it with the move and I am getting concerned with the cost of what Norah's heath care will be like. Who knows what kind of insurance we will have. Growth hormones are very costly. I bet we could pull it off next year. Don't let that hold anyone else back.

I would love, love, love to...but our baby will be about 2 months old at that time. I'm not sure about flying with a 2 month old and less about taking one on a houseboat for a week. :-(. Also don't know where we'll be with the taco truck. So...maybe 2012 is going to be he better year?

A couple of years ago when we (Jason)introduced the Lake Powell idea, I had high hopes we could pull it off, but this turns out to be a bad year for conflicts for lots of us. I still maintain however that there is no better get-together than Lake Powell, so I suggest we put it on the calendar for July-August, 2012, if the world still exists, and everyone plan ahead. No moves, no new jobs, no babies - well, maybe babies if you must, but that's all. Abby may be the only one in that category at that point, but we can work around that. What say you all?

2012 will work better for us too. It's too hard for Jason to get time off with the new job, he was only able to take 3 days off for the baby, so I'm all for 2012.

Good to know- thanks all. I want to do something vacation-like since EFY and having Valerie in the Hill Cummorah pageant fell through. I definitely think Asher was easier at two months than 14 O-o but I have no idea of the conditions on a houseboat.
Thanks for answering, everyone. I do hope it works out- it's lonely here year after year :-)

Next year would probably work better for us too. There just won't be any way to swing it this year, for Ray mostly. That is his busiest time, but hopefully next summer we can hire someone and he will have a bit more freedom.

Dad...you never know. Abby might not be the only one possibly having a baby next year. Although, I'll try to aim for fall or winter. Whatever little ones are yet to come, have to come soon. I don't really like the idea of having babies in my 40s. Either way, we'll do our best to be there in 2012!

Leslie, I hope you can make it in 012, but I also hope you can have another baby soon - justify my hard work by putting that crib to some more use! Whatever the case, we'll work it out.

Wait a minute..... Abby is expecting a baby next year...? Good thing I check the ol' big every blue moon. I'm pretty sure powell is out for us this year, but I'm not going to venture any thoughts on next year.
