HISTORY

A Little History:
Our story begins in Pocatello, Idaho, circa 1972, when the lovely Debby Christensen agreed to a first, though fateful date with admirer, David Croshaw. Long story-short, he bade her follow him, and they went arm-in-arm to the Logan, Utah temple for establishment of an eternal family unit, Generation 1, on May 23 1973.

From their first blissful summer in Salt Lake City, educational pursuits took them to Provo/Orem, Utah, birthplace of Leslie and Rebecca, and to San Francisco/Oakland California, birthplace of Colin and Matt. Then, for establishment of livelihood, expansion of the tribe with Abby and Dana, and for raising/unifying of Generation 2, it was back to the roots in Pocatello for a rewarding sojourn.

In time, driven by a raging, but commonly shared sense of adventure and independence, one-by-one, Generation 2 escaped the homeland to distant regions of the country and the world, each ultimately developing their own tribal expansions by pairing with worthy mates and initiating Generation 3.

Now sensing fulfillment of their purpose in Pocatello, Generation 1 has also left those roots and transplanted to Cascade Idaho, from which base, they anticipate more abundant contact with The Posterity, Generations 2 and 3, in the future. That contact however, awaits fulfillment of a call to LDS missionary service in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, wherein they hope to help the state of the world by sharing the love of Jesus Christ.

So now, including Generation 0 (Grandma and Grandpa Christensen) home base includes Yuma, Arizona, Pocatello, Idaho, Cascade, Idaho, Vancouver, BC, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Spokane, Washington, Boise, Idaho, Los Angeles, California, back to Boise, Idaho, and on and on (Generation 3+) to infinity.

Our Mission Statement:
This is the blog of our eternal family unit. Initiated years ago, it served well as a journal, but even more so, as an archive of our personal interaction. It was a gathering place, a confabulation instrument, a unifying force for four generations of widely dispersed and progressively prolific posterity, and their valued associates. Though it served these purposes well for many years, it eventually took a back seat to new-kids-on-the-block, Facebook, and Instagram, and was sadly forgotten.

We now move to resurrect this blog with an added functional purpose of archiving the missionary experiences of Generation 1, of their movements and activities as they participate with The Gathering of Israel in the land northward. In so doing, we hope that via their own comments and posts, this blog will again serve to gather and unify the posterity and their friends.

As in the past, that the young and vibrant may know the old and tired, that enduring bonds may be fostered and maintained, that experience and encouragement may be openly shared, that posterity may embrace truth, and that hearts may be knit together, we must resist detachment despite our geographic divergence. We shall do so here.

Curiosity About The Cast of 24

So Crystal and I watch 24 on hulu.com since we are unable to get any network channels (just one of the many menacing downsides of switching to Dish Network from DirecTV for a cheaper price).

Anyway there is one of the main characters named Chloe has a look on her face like her parents just told her she was grounded for the entire weekend in every episode.

In addition, one of the terrorists is really good at playing a terrorist because he has a perma-menace look on his face.

Here he is smiling for his headshot.

So Crystal was wondering what would happen if these two ever got together and had kids. If so what would their children look like?

Stay tuned for Crystal's photoshopping skills...

I can't wait for the sweet photoshopping skills! That is weird about your dishnetwork, we have dishnet and get all our locals plus it is still cheaper than directTV. Anyway, one of Ray's observations about 24...Jack is always either yelling or whispering. It is so funny, ever since he said that I have been watching for it and it is totally true!! I also l.o.v.e. Chloe. She is probably my favorite character. Who else can't stand the whole Dana/Cole story? Pointless...

ok, i hate the dana-cole saga, but for some bizarre reason i am a teeny bit on her side. did you realize that that bomb totally blew out all their computers---no record of dana helping whats-his-name. sick, i know.

The reason we dont get network channels is because we live so close to DC and all the network channels have hubs there. On DirecTV, we had FOX, but Dish... nothing... and I have asked for waivers a couple times...

I will photoshop when I get a chance, I have lots of things to grade this week though. Ick.

When we were in Hawaii, the local news anchor, whose show immediately follows 24, labeled Dana and her old boyfriend as "Dumb and Dumber" and said that if 24 didn't get rid of that little side-saga soon, he would be out of there. My sentiments exactly. Not only have they not gotten rid of it, but the side-saga now has some uncredentialed bounty hunter wandering about unattended through the top secret CTU strategy room during a pressing national crisis. Just a little implausible detail there.

Also, has anyone noticed that they have gotten a little careless about intersecting timelines of the various side-sagas? I mean, everything is supposed to be in real time, right? So for instance, after Princess what's-he-name escaped her terrorist boyfriend and is driving through unfamiliar neighborhoods of the big city, she still manages to reach the CTU tunnel in about 3 minutes, precisely in time for her car's hidden bomb to go off. It's hard to feel suspense when the events are so absurd.

I don't know Becky I heard Jack speak in a normal tone when he was speaking in German.

You know in the one season I watched all the way through I noticed that no one ever got stuck in traffic which in any major city is almost impossible.

Also why is it you never see any of the characters eating or going to the bathroom?

Crystal said...

I dunno, I sit and look at pages on my phone while Matt watches. It is the only show EVER we have "watched" as a couple and that just started when I discovered it on Hulu a month ago ;-)

I think the president's wife is GORGEOUS. I would love to look arabian.

I thought the same thing about the computers, mom. I know Matt, you never see them going to the bathroom. Ray and I have talked about that before. You definitely have to suspend reality to watch the show, but that is what is so great about it!

As far as the bathroom and eating go, I'm satisfied to not share that part of my TV stars' lives. :-)
