HISTORY

A Little History:
Our story begins in Pocatello, Idaho, circa 1972, when the lovely Debby Christensen agreed to a first, though fateful date with admirer, David Croshaw. Long story-short, he bade her follow him, and they went arm-in-arm to the Logan, Utah temple for establishment of an eternal family unit, Generation 1, on May 23 1973.

From their first blissful summer in Salt Lake City, educational pursuits took them to Provo/Orem, Utah, birthplace of Leslie and Rebecca, and to San Francisco/Oakland California, birthplace of Colin and Matt. Then, for establishment of livelihood, expansion of the tribe with Abby and Dana, and for raising/unifying of Generation 2, it was back to the roots in Pocatello for a rewarding sojourn.

In time, driven by a raging, but commonly shared sense of adventure and independence, one-by-one, Generation 2 escaped the homeland to distant regions of the country and the world, each ultimately developing their own tribal expansions by pairing with worthy mates and initiating Generation 3.

Now sensing fulfillment of their purpose in Pocatello, Generation 1 has also left those roots and transplanted to Cascade Idaho, from which base, they anticipate more abundant contact with The Posterity, Generations 2 and 3, in the future. That contact however, awaits fulfillment of a call to LDS missionary service in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, wherein they hope to help the state of the world by sharing the love of Jesus Christ.

So now, including Generation 0 (Grandma and Grandpa Christensen) home base includes Yuma, Arizona, Pocatello, Idaho, Cascade, Idaho, Vancouver, BC, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Spokane, Washington, Boise, Idaho, Los Angeles, California, back to Boise, Idaho, and on and on (Generation 3+) to infinity.

Our Mission Statement:
This is the blog of our eternal family unit. Initiated years ago, it served well as a journal, but even more so, as an archive of our personal interaction. It was a gathering place, a confabulation instrument, a unifying force for four generations of widely dispersed and progressively prolific posterity, and their valued associates. Though it served these purposes well for many years, it eventually took a back seat to new-kids-on-the-block, Facebook, and Instagram, and was sadly forgotten.

We now move to resurrect this blog with an added functional purpose of archiving the missionary experiences of Generation 1, of their movements and activities as they participate with The Gathering of Israel in the land northward. In so doing, we hope that via their own comments and posts, this blog will again serve to gather and unify the posterity and their friends.

As in the past, that the young and vibrant may know the old and tired, that enduring bonds may be fostered and maintained, that experience and encouragement may be openly shared, that posterity may embrace truth, and that hearts may be knit together, we must resist detachment despite our geographic divergence. We shall do so here.

Family Time

Out of respect for my wife who is tired of the barrage of "Global Warming is a Myth" posts here is a picture of what we made as a family. We made this for Crystal's friend who is getting baptized with her family on Saturday.

WARNING: The following may contain some statements which are viewed by some to be the rantings of a lunatic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I know the family blog is subject to a super majority and of the opinion that only idiots believe in Global Warming. However, you should keep in mind that my wife (who is a scientist by the way) is one of those idiots. It also might be helpful to consider that I wanted to be an engineer because I wanted to "change the world" by helping to produce cars that ran cleaner and with more respect to the environment.

I have always identified myself as a conservative; but in recent years I have taken the stance that I have little respect for parties. I do this because it seems like crappy policies have come from either side of the isle.

In the case of global warming I do feel that elements of it are true. Isn't it our responsibility to be good stewards of the planet of which God has given us dominion? Or perhaps we should just go on doing nothing, buring fossil fuels and increasing the environmental problems rather than finding a real solution. After all global warming is a myth right?

Disclaimer: I voice my opinion without the least desire to pick a fight. So read it with that kind of tone.

In terms of your last paragraph, I just want to point out that people who don't believe in global warming do not automatically also believe that we shouldn't take care of our planet. It's like saying that someone who doesn't believe in the death penalty also doesn't believe in punishing people for committing crimes. Both instances involve taking one opinion and projecting it to the extreme. I think I can speak for the "super majority" that this is not how we feel at all.

I think we would all agree that we need to respect the environment and take care of this world that God has given us. No quarrel there, but recent investigations have uncovered substantial levels of deception in the global warming camp, not to mention developing climate trends opposite those originally promoted by global warming proponents. Beyond that, one does not have to think very hard to recognize significant potential for conflicts of interest favoring the core of those proponents, i.e. many of them have gotten rich on the concept while the freedoms of the rest of the human race have been diminished. That all seems obvious to me, and that's why I can't buy it, but I don't see those who do as idiots. I don't think anyone else does either.

I am totally for taking care of mother earth. anyone remember how we recycle here at home? turn off lights whenever you can. my quarrel with the whole global warming philosophy is in my mind it is anti-God. God is not in charge, we are. We can influence the weather, we are in charge with our fluorocarbons. Wrong. God is in charge. We should do all we can to protect the planet, but we are very puny, weak humans. another question i have is where does the money go that people are paying for carbon credits? how does paying money help the environment one bit. how much pollution does john travolta put into the air when he flies his small family in his jet all over the world? does paying carbon credits negate the way he has polluted the atmosphere. i think we need to do all we can for the earth. clean up our yards, plant gardens, recycle whatever you can.

How am I not supposed to feel like these comments are meant to pick a fight when they are aimed at discrediting everything I've said.

I don't like coming to the family blog anymore. It makes me uncomfortable and I feel like no matter what is said something is misconstrued as being directly meant to hurt feelings. We are a forever family and I love every single one of you regardless or what you believe about global warming, politics, or hamburger preference. I haven't posted anything on here in a long time and I think I just figured out why that is.

Matt, to disagree is NOT to pick a fight. You qualified your post by saying that you know everyone disagrees with you. Nothing anyone has said has been mean or provocative. They are giving their OPINION just like you did. Are you trying to "pick a fight" with all of those who don't agree with you, as you accused the previous commenters of doing? I LOVE YOU, Matt! You are part of my eternal family. Let's PLEASE just be able to agree to disagree!!

I agree with Dana. Maybe we should just keep all this kind of stuff off the family blog. We all have our own personal blogs, we can say whatever we want in our own personal forums.

And I totally agree with you about the 2 parties, I have no respect at all!!

My opinion is mine, and I'm not going to be appologetic about it. Nor do I expect anyone else to appologize for theirs. Global warming is not a scientific law, it's a theory. Thus, by it nature, there is disagreement about it. Environmentalism and Global warming are not the same thing. There has been a lot of deceit and a massive amount of disagreement in the scientific community regarding global warming. That much has been documented. I disagree with paying for carbon credits, especially when it is probably money in someone's pockets. It's like environmental paid indulgences. And I guarantee Algore has made a bigger "carbon footprint" than I ever will.
That's my opinion. If expressing our opinions is picking a fight, then what's the point of having a discussion?

I agree with Becky and Dana. Let's please keep things off this blog that we all know are going to lead to misunderstandings and discontent. I think we all know which topics are "fight-picking" sensitive ones that will lead to controversial discussion and hurt feelings, so let's not have them here. Matt, I think you knew that this was one of them when you made this post. We are all far too strong-willed and ready to share our opinions, and when asked for it, of course we will share. This is supposed to be a happy place and a safe haven for all of us. Let's all pitch in to keep it that way.

I can't tell you all how sick and tired I am of the phrase "super majority"! Our family IS the SUPER DUPER MAJORITY! Our eternal nature makes us so! We can certainly agree to disagree right? Considering we are all grown-ups here let's loose the generalizations!

Very nice plaque for the new members. That will make them feel special, as everyone should who is on their way back to our Father in Heaven.

Wow, what fun can happen during a full day's work. yikes. I am happy to discuss the reasons I feel the way I do about the climate, but I would rather get a phone call about it.

Colin, was I offensive? Sorry if I was. I had no idea this was all happening until after my llllonnnng day at work.

I was trying to type a response with Asher on my lap... well, climbing to my head... and I was not trying to be offensive.

I do appreciate the comment about the sign- I think we commented about the same time, David. They are such a good, special family.

I'm looking forward to being part of the new SUPER DUPER MAJORITY (of 14!)Which reminds me, that 13 is actually my lucky number. So I guess I'm really lucky to have picked off the 13th Croshaw-clan adult! Here's to nice, even numbers! I love you all (including the strong opinions on both sides!) I liked Rebecca's affirmation about family. We may be different, but we're family (or at least will be after May 22 - grin.), and I love you all for it!
