HISTORY

A Little History:
Our story begins in Pocatello, Idaho, circa 1972, when the lovely Debby Christensen agreed to a first, though fateful date with admirer, David Croshaw. Long story-short, he bade her follow him, and they went arm-in-arm to the Logan, Utah temple for establishment of an eternal family unit, Generation 1, on May 23 1973.

From their first blissful summer in Salt Lake City, educational pursuits took them to Provo/Orem, Utah, birthplace of Leslie and Rebecca, and to San Francisco/Oakland California, birthplace of Colin and Matt. Then, for establishment of livelihood, expansion of the tribe with Abby and Dana, and for raising/unifying of Generation 2, it was back to the roots in Pocatello for a rewarding sojourn.

In time, driven by a raging, but commonly shared sense of adventure and independence, one-by-one, Generation 2 escaped the homeland to distant regions of the country and the world, each ultimately developing their own tribal expansions by pairing with worthy mates and initiating Generation 3.

Now sensing fulfillment of their purpose in Pocatello, Generation 1 has also left those roots and transplanted to Cascade Idaho, from which base, they anticipate more abundant contact with The Posterity, Generations 2 and 3, in the future. That contact however, awaits fulfillment of a call to LDS missionary service in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, wherein they hope to help the state of the world by sharing the love of Jesus Christ.

So now, including Generation 0 (Grandma and Grandpa Christensen) home base includes Yuma, Arizona, Pocatello, Idaho, Cascade, Idaho, Vancouver, BC, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Spokane, Washington, Boise, Idaho, Los Angeles, California, back to Boise, Idaho, and on and on (Generation 3+) to infinity.

Our Mission Statement:
This is the blog of our eternal family unit. Initiated years ago, it served well as a journal, but even more so, as an archive of our personal interaction. It was a gathering place, a confabulation instrument, a unifying force for four generations of widely dispersed and progressively prolific posterity, and their valued associates. Though it served these purposes well for many years, it eventually took a back seat to new-kids-on-the-block, Facebook, and Instagram, and was sadly forgotten.

We now move to resurrect this blog with an added functional purpose of archiving the missionary experiences of Generation 1, of their movements and activities as they participate with The Gathering of Israel in the land northward. In so doing, we hope that via their own comments and posts, this blog will again serve to gather and unify the posterity and their friends.

As in the past, that the young and vibrant may know the old and tired, that enduring bonds may be fostered and maintained, that experience and encouragement may be openly shared, that posterity may embrace truth, and that hearts may be knit together, we must resist detachment despite our geographic divergence. We shall do so here.

Divine Cosmic Creation -- The Ultimate Purpose

From the combined perspectives of the Hubble space telescope and The Pearl of Great Price. There is some serious order out there.

Matter Unorganized....

And the Lord said: Let us go down. And they went down... and they, that is the Gods, organized and formed the heavens and the earth. (Abraham 4:1)

And God Spake unto Moses saying: Behold I am the Lord God Almighty, and Enless is my name: for I am without beginning of days or end of years... Wherefore look, and I will show thee the workmanship of mine hands; but not all, for my works are without end, and also my words, for they never cease. (Moses 1: 3-4)

And...Moses cast his eyes and beheld the earth, yea even all of it; and there was not a particle of it which he did not behold, discerning it by the Spirit of God. And he beheld many lands; and each land was called earth, and there were inhabitants on the face thereof. (Moses 1:27, 29)

And by the word of my power have I created them, which is mine Only Begotten Son, who is full of grace and truth. And worlds without number have I created...And the first man of all men have I called Adam, which is many.(Moses 1:32-34)

For behold, there are many worlds that have passed away by the word of my power. And there are many that now stand. And innumerable are they unto man; but all things are numbered unto me, for they are mine and I know them. The heavens, they are many, and they cannot be numbered unto man, but they are numbered unto me, for they are mine. (Moses 1: 35, 37)

And as one earth shall pass away, and the heavens thereof even so shall another come; and there is no end to my works, neither to my words. (Moses 1:38)

And Moses beheld the world and the ends thereof, and all the children of men which are, and which were created; of the same he greatly marveled and wondered. [Thus contemplating the magnitude of God's creations, observable only through the power of His Spirit,] [Moses] said unto himself: Now for this cause I know that man is nothing, which thing I never had supposed. (Moses 1:8,10)

And it came to pass that Moses called upon God, saying: Tell me I pray thee, why these things [creations] are so, and by what thou madest them?... Be merciful unto thy servant, O God, and tell me concerning this earth and the inhabitants thereof, an also the heavens, and then thy servant will be content. (Moses 1:30, 36)

In his Messianic Psalm, David pondered the immensity of God's creations and like Moses, wondered: "When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?" (Psalms 8:3-4)

To Moses' query the Lord provided a concise, but compelling response: ...For behold, this is my work and my glory--to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.(Moses1:39)

David's Psalm reached a similar conclusion: "For thou hast made him [man] a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet." (Psalms 8:5-6)

In latter day revelation, the Lord declares that those sufficiently faithful in this life "shall be gods, because they have no end; therefore shall they be from everlasting to everlasting, because they continue; then shall they be above all, because all things are subject unto them. Then shall they be gods, because they have all power, and the angels are subject unto them." (D&C 132:20)

He created it all for us, that we might earn immortality and eternal life.

But what of our imperfections, our mortal weaknesses and our carnal tendencies? How can He, or we possibly justify our sufficiency?

In His perfect love for us, our Father's perfect plan encompasses even those impassable barriers:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

Love it, I will never forget the moment I saw a nebula in a telescope. The feeling was so complex knowing the light I was seeing then and there was 1000s of years old... It was just an amazing feeling. I actually felt like a little piece of that time was added to my soul. Weird I know, and I really cant explain it better than that, but I was truly making a tie to that far of amazing vision.

I wanted to persue astronomy as a student, but loved bio-medicine even more, so I think one day, it will be a hobby of mine.

Contact is still one of my most-favorite ever movies. It was just genius.

My favorite line ever...

"there has to be life out there, otherwise it would be a terrible waste of space"

indeed. INDEED.

The most amazing thing is that God has the ability to not only create the cosmos but also reach deep into our souls and recreate anew those who choose to take the journey - a man reborn to become as a little child.

I stand all amazed...Oh it is wonderful!

I'm glad you did this after we talked about it watching the meteor shower. Those are some amazing pictures. Unbelievable what is out there being organized.
Makes me wish I had a Milenium Falcon to cruise around in to see it all.

Just wanted to mention here... these photos are all psuedo-colored to reflect the gases that are making up these heavenly bodies. Most of the time, the light is white light- still spectacular, by all means, but not so brilliantly colored.
