HISTORY

A Little History:
Our story begins in Pocatello, Idaho, circa 1972, when the lovely Debby Christensen agreed to a first, though fateful date with admirer, David Croshaw. Long story-short, he bade her follow him, and they went arm-in-arm to the Logan, Utah temple for establishment of an eternal family unit, Generation 1, on May 23 1973.

From their first blissful summer in Salt Lake City, educational pursuits took them to Provo/Orem, Utah, birthplace of Leslie and Rebecca, and to San Francisco/Oakland California, birthplace of Colin and Matt. Then, for establishment of livelihood, expansion of the tribe with Abby and Dana, and for raising/unifying of Generation 2, it was back to the roots in Pocatello for a rewarding sojourn.

In time, driven by a raging, but commonly shared sense of adventure and independence, one-by-one, Generation 2 escaped the homeland to distant regions of the country and the world, each ultimately developing their own tribal expansions by pairing with worthy mates and initiating Generation 3.

Now sensing fulfillment of their purpose in Pocatello, Generation 1 has also left those roots and transplanted to Cascade Idaho, from which base, they anticipate more abundant contact with The Posterity, Generations 2 and 3, in the future. That contact however, awaits fulfillment of a call to LDS missionary service in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, wherein they hope to help the state of the world by sharing the love of Jesus Christ.

So now, including Generation 0 (Grandma and Grandpa Christensen) home base includes Yuma, Arizona, Pocatello, Idaho, Cascade, Idaho, Vancouver, BC, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Spokane, Washington, Boise, Idaho, Los Angeles, California, back to Boise, Idaho, and on and on (Generation 3+) to infinity.

Our Mission Statement:
This is the blog of our eternal family unit. Initiated years ago, it served well as a journal, but even more so, as an archive of our personal interaction. It was a gathering place, a confabulation instrument, a unifying force for four generations of widely dispersed and progressively prolific posterity, and their valued associates. Though it served these purposes well for many years, it eventually took a back seat to new-kids-on-the-block, Facebook, and Instagram, and was sadly forgotten.

We now move to resurrect this blog with an added functional purpose of archiving the missionary experiences of Generation 1, of their movements and activities as they participate with The Gathering of Israel in the land northward. In so doing, we hope that via their own comments and posts, this blog will again serve to gather and unify the posterity and their friends.

As in the past, that the young and vibrant may know the old and tired, that enduring bonds may be fostered and maintained, that experience and encouragement may be openly shared, that posterity may embrace truth, and that hearts may be knit together, we must resist detachment despite our geographic divergence. We shall do so here.

Cole is having his circumcision tomorrow, Monday, at about noon. Of course he has no clue but I am anxious already. Please add a bit in your prayers for us.

Holy cow. I did not realize he had not gotten that done yet. Man. That made my heart jump. Poor baby. After seeing asher's as a new guy, I felt like a horrible parent and the whole unecessaryness of it all, but it started looking fine after just a few days. It is always harder on us than it is on the kiddos. I will say a prayer for YOU and that he is comfortable as possible.

The OB, who wasn't my own, at the hospital said that his peeps was too small. Since it was an elective procedure he didn't feel comfortable doing it. He told me to contact a urologist. When he was a few weeks old I called the urologist and made the appointment. A day or two before the appointment the office called me and said that they wouldn't give him an appointment because he wasn't yet on the insurance. I had called about a week before that and gave the insurance the info to add him to the policy, they were just taking their time I guess. Well, stupidly, I figured that the urologist staff member that called and canceled the original appointment knew that Cole couldn't have the procedure done after he weighed so much, 10# I think, and was a certain age and therefore I figured it was okay to wait another week or so. Cole wasn't chubby like Jack yet. Well, we got the whole insurance thing worked out and I made the appointment and Cole was just over 6 weeks. We took him in and the doctor said that his peeps was NOT too small, he didn't know why the doctor didn't just do it but now Cole was too old and his skin had thickened to the point that it would be too uncomfortable to have it done at that point. I was very frustrated and should have said something about the origianl appointment but didn't. The doctor said we had to wait until he was 6 months because he would have to go under anesthesia. So here we are. I would be almost okay if we didn't do it but Colin wantd it done of course and I understand his reasoning. It has made me a bit nervous for the anesthesia though. I know he will be okay though. It is a very short procedure. I just hope he doesn't throw up on me like Jack did after his procedure. Really , that is the least of my worries. Thanks for your prayers

Poor little Cole! He is so precious. Can't wait to see him - hopefully he'll heal up real fast and be ready to play in a couple weeks.

It's a good thing you're doing it now before he's old enough to understand what's about to be done with that part of his anatomy, and thereby express dissent. Once a guy gets to that age, he would never agree to such a thing. I'm just sayin'...

"that part of his anatomy" totally made me laugh out loud. Matt says that. I know where he got it from now. HAH HAH HAH! I say penis, but then again, I teach about it and I can't go referring to it as anything but what it is. Believe me, I was so embarrased my first semester, now it does not phase me. I make my students say "penis" and "vagina" the first day of class just so we are all on the same page. Again, my first semester I used vague, non-specific terms and my first exam with anatomy got some very, very interesting answers. Particularly for the male.

After being in his presence for a week now, I can testify that Cole really is as cute as that photo suggests.
