HISTORY

A Little History:
Our story begins in Pocatello, Idaho, circa 1972, when the lovely Debby Christensen agreed to a first, though fateful date with admirer, David Croshaw. Long story-short, he bade her follow him, and they went arm-in-arm to the Logan, Utah temple for establishment of an eternal family unit, Generation 1, on May 23 1973.

From their first blissful summer in Salt Lake City, educational pursuits took them to Provo/Orem, Utah, birthplace of Leslie and Rebecca, and to San Francisco/Oakland California, birthplace of Colin and Matt. Then, for establishment of livelihood, expansion of the tribe with Abby and Dana, and for raising/unifying of Generation 2, it was back to the roots in Pocatello for a rewarding sojourn.

In time, driven by a raging, but commonly shared sense of adventure and independence, one-by-one, Generation 2 escaped the homeland to distant regions of the country and the world, each ultimately developing their own tribal expansions by pairing with worthy mates and initiating Generation 3.

Now sensing fulfillment of their purpose in Pocatello, Generation 1 has also left those roots and transplanted to Cascade Idaho, from which base, they anticipate more abundant contact with The Posterity, Generations 2 and 3, in the future. That contact however, awaits fulfillment of a call to LDS missionary service in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, wherein they hope to help the state of the world by sharing the love of Jesus Christ.

So now, including Generation 0 (Grandma and Grandpa Christensen) home base includes Yuma, Arizona, Pocatello, Idaho, Cascade, Idaho, Vancouver, BC, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Spokane, Washington, Boise, Idaho, Los Angeles, California, back to Boise, Idaho, and on and on (Generation 3+) to infinity.

Our Mission Statement:
This is the blog of our eternal family unit. Initiated years ago, it served well as a journal, but even more so, as an archive of our personal interaction. It was a gathering place, a confabulation instrument, a unifying force for four generations of widely dispersed and progressively prolific posterity, and their valued associates. Though it served these purposes well for many years, it eventually took a back seat to new-kids-on-the-block, Facebook, and Instagram, and was sadly forgotten.

We now move to resurrect this blog with an added functional purpose of archiving the missionary experiences of Generation 1, of their movements and activities as they participate with The Gathering of Israel in the land northward. In so doing, we hope that via their own comments and posts, this blog will again serve to gather and unify the posterity and their friends.

As in the past, that the young and vibrant may know the old and tired, that enduring bonds may be fostered and maintained, that experience and encouragement may be openly shared, that posterity may embrace truth, and that hearts may be knit together, we must resist detachment despite our geographic divergence. We shall do so here.

Ahem...

Was anyone going to comment on the FINALE of the Davids last night??

I am actually undecided. They are so equally awesome in their own styles, and I thought they both did an incredible job and picked great songs that made them shine. (Even if Simon is bitter that Mr. C didn't sing a little MJ. He's just not a rocker.) I'm happy either way just because it came down to the Davids.

And I thought it was tender that both of them were completely overwhelmed with emotion at some point during the night. Those boys have been through a lot over the past few months, I can only imagine the emotions that are flooding over them now. Maybe a little relief?

Totally agree, BB. I'm just glad it came to the 2 Davids. I think they both deserve to win. My guess is that Archie (I hear that's his new nickname) will win, but I definitely think David C. will sell more records. Either way, I'll be happy with the winner.

Archie, so much easier to say than Arculeta, haha. I think he'll win, but it's just a tiny bit irksome how awkward he is whenever they ask him quesitons. I'm sure it's his age and everything, but David Cook seems so much more the professional type.

I think they were both not that good last night. I think David Cook picked a bad night to try something new. I think David Archuletta kind of sings like a girl and he still thinks it is the ward roadshow.

I like David C better, but I think that Archie did much better last night. I thought David C's first song was amazing (Clive Davis sure can pick 'em) but I was not feeling his second song. His third song was just okay for me. That's the thing about those AI winner's songs, that has to be their first single and those types of songs are just not David C's style, AT ALL. (I personally think that is why Blake lost last year). That type of song totally fit's Archie. I honestly don't think it would serve David C's career well in the long run to win American Idol. That is much more David A's style. Anyway, I agree, I think David A will win, but David C will sell more records!!

Yo, dogs, check it out...I really wanted DA to win. His voice is always clear, on pitch and he has a great vibrato. DC is much more the rocker however so I am not too surprised. Lori

I thought last night's show was amazing...thanks to You Tube. I'm glad Cook won, but I would have been happy with either of them. Cook's older and Archie has many years ahead to be successful. I also thought there performances on the final night (Cook with ZZ Top and Archie with One Republic) were perfect representations of the kind of music they should sing. They both did a great job!

So...what do I do now that it's over?

Wait till next January! (and btw, they aren't coming to San Antonio on the tour. Bummer, huh?)

I really didn't care who won, they're both great. I can't believe Cook cried, it's like he REALLY wanted it! Which I'm not sure if I ever saw that before, maybe he just didn't want to show it.

He cried the night before, too, after his last song. I wanted him to win (but kind of didn't, and really didn't expect it - he doesn't fit into the AI mold very well) because he's just such a talented musician. DA's voice is clear and consistent beautiful, but DC has the skills to write his OWN songs and mold existing songs into his own creation. Plus he's more versatile - he can be hard-core but also deep. (And plus his initials are my home...?)

It's true, it would have been fun to say a Mormon was everyone's idol, but on the other hand, I hear next year they're doing auditions in Salt Lake because, hey, what do you know? People there are really talented singers! Who knew?

I am so excited that cook won, he has been my fave for a long time!! I actually feel torn, because I can see him being in a band, not as a solo singer. Also, I hate that he is going to have to release some cornball AI winning song as his first single. That is so not his style. But out of the two I think that he is more professional and all around a better musician. That probably just comes with age. Yeah Cook!!

Maybe Idol will mold a little bit for him so that he can sing with a band or something. They want him to suceed after all, right? Unlike...Ruben Studdard who? Fantasia what? Gray haired old guy? I liked him at the time but can't even remember his name.

I didn't know Cook lived in Tulsa Becky!! That's your claim to fame.
