Stake Conference

hi everyone,

i know les and alex had stake conference today, too.  don't know about the rest of you.  (alex, hope the plumbing problem got worked out).  anyway, a member of our stake presidency was talking about his patriarchal blessing, given by Hallie Thomas (Les, Colin, Matt, Abby, Dana, you know him).  he said there is one line in his blessing that changed his life.  Bro. Thomas said, "100% obedience means 100% blessings."  wow.  i don't know if i have considered that before.  i certainly want those 100% blessings, but how willing am i to be obedient, to keep doing all  i know i need to be doing, to always be loving and kind, to not only do, but especially to 'think' what i should be thinking?   Elder Bednar talked about trying to always have the presence of the Spirit.  He said "everything the Savior’s gospel teaches us to do and become is intended to bless us with the companionship of the Holy Ghost."   hadn't thought of that either, but after he said it i knew it was true.  if we can just remember and do that, we will come closer to 100% happiness and  to receiving those 100% blessings.

i want to be with all of you, 'in a state of neverending happiness'. (Mosiah 2:41)

dana had her primary program today.  i hope that went well, dana.  boise state is #2.  go broncos!   jason had his birthday yesterday.  part of his present was a quiet house to watch football in for a while.  abby and david went camping and enjoyed that gloriously beautiful fall in the east.  matt, crystal, valerie and asher had a fun fall day on a farm, with some great photos, including lots of asher running.  colin had a three day weekend--meaning no work for 3 days!!! yeah.  ray is on ibuprofen and feeling a little better.  got a big cock roach job in montana.  it turned cold here in idaho a few days ago.  we have had a spectacular fall.  the most beautiful, warm fall days.  just a little bit of family news.   i love all of you.

Date/Time Vortex

Abby's timely email from DC at 10:10 p.m. EST, on 10/10/10 inspired me, so I waited until MST caught up, and got this shot of the event on my atomic alarm clock.

I wanted to go one step further, and record 10:10:10 on 10/10/10, but as you can see, I was 40 seconds late.
So now we have to wait until November 11, 2011 for another opportunity.

By the way, if you missed the moon tonight, check it tomorrow - It really did look like that - a perfect cresent.

Dad

You Missed a Spot

I wanted to post this a while back, but I just got the photos uploaded from the camera.

So, Mom and I were at a podiatry conference in May, staying in a Sheriton Hotel in downtown Seattle.  We woke one morning and looked out the window to see six guys rappeling down the face of the next-door skyscraper.  What the???

The camera's zoom revealed the purpose of their game...
...window washers.

So I hurried downstairs to get a shot from the street, and caught them just before they reached the first floor roof, where they moved the end of their ropes to the right a few feet, and then took all their gear back up the elevators to the top where they moved the anchors to the right, and started down again.
What do you suppose these guys get paid?  It would take a fortune just to pay their workman's  comp premiums.  But Oh, what a view!
